Ted Michael Baer

September 29, 1941 ~ December 11, 2017 (age 76) 76 Years Old

Ted Michael Baer, 76, of Danville, passed away at 9:00 p.m. Monday, December 11, 2017, at his home.

Mr. Baer was born on September 29, 1941, in Danville, the son of Edward and Marjorie (Bennett) Baer.  He married Maryellen Kropp on October 31, 1992, in Binghamton, New York.  She survives.

He is also survived by two daughters- Annette Baer of Binghamton, New York and Kim Lovins of Owensboro, Kentucky; three sons- Peter Tercha of Elkhart, Indiana, Andrew Tercha of San Francisco, California and Edward Baer of Danville; one brother- Milton Baer of Little Rock, Arkansas; two cousins- Terry Baer of Champaign and Toby Peck of Danville; niece- Sarah Funk of Danville; and nephew- Jason Baer of Danville;

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Ted graduated from Danville High School in 1959 and later attended Danville Junior College. He served in the United States Air Force from 1962-1966.  Ted was a member of Congregation Anshe Knesset Israel in Danville for several years, until its closing.  Ted started his career in radio at WITY in Danville, right  out of high school  He worked for several years at radio stations in New York, Pennsylvania and Danville.  He had a great love for music and enjoyed playing the piano in various groups around Danville.  His other great love was working on clocks and he owned Baer's Clock Shop in Danville from 1993-2010.  Ted never met a stranger and he would always enjoy telling you a great story or some of his favorite jokes.  His personality would always light up any room he was in. 

Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Friday, December 15, 2017, at the Blurton Funeral Home in Potomac, with Rabbi Barry Marks officiating.  Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.  Ted will be laid to rest in Spring Hill Cemetery.  Memorials may be made to Worksource Enterprises.  The family has entrusted the Blurton Funeral Home to assist them in honoring Ted's life.  Memories or condolences may be shared with the family on his everlasting memorial page at:  www.blurtonfuneralhomes.com.
