Donald E. Mayberry Obituary

Donald E. Mayberry, 67, of Hoopeston, passed away unexpectedly on January 3, 2018, at Carle Hoopeston Regional Health Center.

Don was born on December 26, 1950, in Danville, the son of Roy and Millie (Lindsey) Mayberry.  He married April Meador on September 22, 1972, in Hoopeston.  She survives.

He is also survived by one son, Todd; two grandchildren- Shelby and Cash; one brother- Joseph (Marsha) Mayberry; one sister- Nancy (Greg) Shaffer; and one uncle- Robert (Dee) Mayberry.  Also surviving are many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister- Shirley and two brothers- Randy and James.

Don graduated from Hoopeston High School, in 1969.  He served in the United States Army Corps of Engineers from 1970 to 1972 and was a member of the Hoopeston American Legion Post #384.  He worked at General Motors in Danville for 25 years, until retiring in 1997, when the facility closed.  Don loved the outdoors- fishing, hunting and enjoyed golfing with friends.  Don also liked spending time with his retired buddies.

A Celebration of Donald’s Life will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 6, 2018, at Blurton Funeral Home, with Steve Unger officiating.  Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.  He will be laid to rest in Floral Hill Cemetery following the services.  In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the donor’s choice.  The family has entrusted the Blurton Funeral Home to assist them in honoring Donald’s life.  Memories or condolences may be shared with the family on his everlasting memorial page at:  www.blurtonfuneralhomes.com.
