Georgia Jean (Slaven) Staton, 90, of Danville, passed away at 3:44 a.m. Wednesday, October 5, 2016, at her home in Danville.
Jean was born on September 23, 1928, in Monticello, Kentucky, the daughter of Ben and Virginia (Pratt) Slaven .
She is survived by one son- James Staton Jr. of New Castle, Indiana; three daughters- Virginia (Raymond) Winters of Danville, Illinois Patty(Greg) Youmans of Montrose, Minnesota and Mary Lytle of Montrose, Minnesota. She is also survived by one cousin Ruth Oney, McKinney, Texas, raised as her sister and six grandchildren, three great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers- James Slaven, Woodrow Slaven and Joshua Slaven; son-in-law-Zelbert Lytle and granddaughter- Chrissy Winters.
Jean was a homemaker. She was an avid reader and enjoyed watching westerns on television in particular Bonanza. She collected Ducks and Geese figurines and items. Jean loved visits with family and traveling, including excursions to Germany, Hawii and a trip along the California coast. She was very strong willed and often hummed while she was deep in thought.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 8, 2016, at the Blurton Funeral Home in Hoopeston, with Pastor Micah Mobley officiating. Burial at Floral Hill, Hoopeston, Illinois. Visitation will be Friday, October 7, 2016 from 4-7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Hoopeston American Legion Post 384.
