I only knew Bill for the past few years. We were on an employee committee together. But in that short time, I knew him to be a kind, warm hearted, and genuine person with a great sense of humor. I will share a couple stories. I brought my wife and kids on our last trip for a committee meeting. They are affairs that last a few days, and the family can enjoy the accommodations while we have our meetings. He saw my wife and commented, "Man, he's robbin' the cradle!" When I told my wife this story, she became his biggest fan (she's 6 months older than I!). Ever since, she's always asked "How is that very nice man from your meetings?" I don't think she'll ever stop telling that story. As a former wrestler and wrestling coach, I enjoyed talking to Bill about his grandson who wrestles. He was always proud talking about his matches and how he was improving. In fact, Bill simply loved to talk about his family. He was that kind of warm hearted person.I wish I could be there to say goodbye in person, Bill. There are too few people like you. Rest In Peace, my friend. You will be missed. Bill! You will be missed by all of us at Battery Specialists + Golf Cars. It's just not going to be the same without your kindness and humor and general talk. You were such a pleasant gentleman to converse with. Our community hat rack will miss all your special hats you used to hang on there. It just seems so unreal, you were in here last week ordering parts and next you're gone. My prayers go out to your family. You will never be forgotten Bill. We miss you :hearts: Mindy Jo

I Wanted to share a small story of Bill's kindness, ran out of fuel the gas gauge was off. I coasted into Bill's driveway, knocked on the door this was around 9 at night.... he opened the door, as soon as I told him who I was and who my dad was, he invited me in so he could finish watching his movie, and then he grab a gas can out of the she for me. We chatted for awhile and he sent me on my way. After I told dad what Bill did for me , Dad swung by Central Maintenance at the Village and tried to repay him for the fuel..... Bill wouldn't hear of it! Bill was a humble and humerous man, I always loved that chuckle of his. He could always find humor in anything and make your day brighter just by talking with him.

Dearly beloved family of William Ramm,The State Universities Civil Service System Employee Advisory Committee extends our deepest sympathy on the huge loss of your loved one. In William's memory a donation of $50.00 each will be made to the Civil Service Employees and Dependents Scholarship Program and to the University of Illinois Foundation Faculty/Staff Emergency Fund.Bill was a valued member of the committee. We will miss his expressions of knowledge. Bill was a good listener and was able to get his point across in a gentle but firm manner. It was obvious his place on the committee was in the best interest of his constituents. UIUC employees made a wise choice electing William Ramm. Bill was also our friend. He had an endearing personality and was a pleasure to be around. You could always tell by his chuckle and the twinkle in his eye, a good story was about to be told. Heaven gained an angel and we lost a really good guy. May he rest in peace. Kim KirchnerOn behalf of EAC
